Club Notes 15 May

Limerick Minor Football.
We want to give praise where it’s due to two of our clubmen namely Gearoid Brennan and Jason Kiely for their efforts in the Munster semi final against Cork. Hard luck on the game but well done for all your hard work and commitment.

Regrets:
Our sincere condolences go to the family and friends of Paddy Verdon former secretary and chairman of the City G.A.A. Board, before his sudden death Paddy was vice chairman and Treasurer of the City G.A.A. Board. Rest in peace.

RESULTS:
Our intermediate hurlers were beaten by a well prepared Mungret side last week and again by Pallasgreen this weekend gone. Both games will be seen as a stepping stone for things to come for this youthful team with huge promise. Everyone in the club is behind the players and management and we hope to see the efforts pay off. It just proves that if it’s worth while it isn’t easy. Keep up the hard work and it will pay it’s dividends.
There will be a county league game next week and has been set for the May 21 against Templeglantine. They will also play NCW at the end of the month in the next round of the champioship.

U-14 Football
On a similar note we unfortunately fell to Ahane in the 2nd round of the football championship. They exposed our weaknesses and scored plenty goals. This was a very unfortunate situation for our team as we were missing a number of players and not prepared for it. The sad thing about it is that we have a lovely team and there are plenty lads eager for success. There will be silverware if this team sticks together and trains hard. Training will be this Tuesday 17th and we hope to have full attendance. The next round of the championship will be the next day, Wednesday 18th at 7:15 and we will be playing at home to Kilpeacon which will prove to be a very important time in the championship for us. We will also be out again against Galbally on the 25th of May. Please keep in contact with coaches for fixtures and training times.

U-14 Hurling (Southside Gaels)
Training and challenge games have given us some fine displays of hurling in the past few weeks but now we need to knuckle down. We will play Ahane in the Jack Lyons Memorial Cup, Championship Division 1A on Tuesday May 23 in Rhebogue. This is a very talented group of hurlers and we hope that the work that you all have put in over the past few months will get this championship off to a winning start. To name a few of our own that have starred for Southside Gaels, we have Cian Casey, Jack McGarry, Dylan McMahon, Adam Koyce, Jack O’Callaghan, Sam Lillis, Aidan Kirby, Ben Roche and Robert Galligan. Best of luck on Tuesday week lads.
