Club Notes 26 April 2016

RESULTS:
Well done to the Limerick minor footballers who beat Tipperary 3-08 to 0-11 and to our own Gearoid Brennan who started at corner back and Jason Kiely who came on later. We’re very proud, well done.

Well done to our U15 hurlers who had a super win on Wed 20th beating Monaleen 1-05 to 0-06, we’re very excited about this team and wish them every success, keep it up lads.

Great victory for our minor footballers who went away to play on Friday last. They turned out an impressive high goal scoring win. The result was Claughaun/Old Christians 4-07 Knockaderry/Monagea 0-13.

Our intermediate footballers suffered a one point loss to Mungret in the first round of the County Championship on Saturday evening. An emphatic performance in the second half just wasn’t enough to grasp victory. This will no doubt put more pressure on us to win future matches so keep up the training and we should see some promising results. Our next day out is scheduled for this Saturday April 30 at 7pm in Askeaton versus Glin, best of luck.

FIXTURES:
Junior football vs St. Patrick’s in Rhebogue at 7.00p.m this Thursday April 28. Best of luck lads.

Our U-14 Footballers will take to our own field on Wednesday May 4 at 7:15 against Askeaton/Ballysteen/Kilcornan in the first round of the Division 1 Championship. There will be games every Wednesday for the following 4 weeks. This is a team with real character and plenty leaders on the team including the likes of Jack McGarry, Cian Casey, Dylan McMahon, Jack O’Callaghan, Sam Lillis to name a few and many more we would love to mention. We will meet for a training session this week, players will be notified by text. We wish them the very best of luck next week. Many of these players will also be playing in the U-14 Hurling Jack Lyons Memorial Cup towards the end of the month. We encourage all to keep up the training.

1916:
There was a gathering of all Limerick G.A.A. clubs at St. John’s Cathedral on Sunday 24 April to celebrate the 1916 centenary. Representatives from Claughaun attended the mass with our banner held high.
That same afternoon, the Féile finals were held at Claughaun. In the Féile A group, Ballybrown were victorious against the favourites Mungret in front of a huge crowd of supporters. The Féile B was held prior and Ballyhoura Gaels had a convincing win over Kildimo/Pallaskenry. The Club grounds were looking great with the tri-colour in full display. It was a well organised event greatly enjoyed by all.
