Claughaun Gaa Club notes – Mon 22/Jul/19

This weeks Results:
TUE 16/Jul JAHC R5 in Rhebogue : Claughaun 2-18 0-8 Monaleen.
SAT 20/Jul U12 Hurling Blitz in Gaelic Grounds.
SAT 20/Jul Claughaun Ladies Football ‘Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others’!! Munster ‘G4MO’ Blitz

JAHC Match Report:
Claughaun 2-18 0-8 Monaleen.
A midweek game saw us produce a fine performance in a very sporting game against Monaleen is R5 of the championship.
We attacked from the word ‘go’ and went in 2-11 to 0-4 at the break. A goal from Macauley Murtagh after 7mins and a fine
goal after a solo run by Emmett Harty after 22mins gave us a generous lead at the interval. A more even 2nd half kept the
sizable crowd engaged with some fine point taking from both sides. This win makes it 3 on the trot and we look forward
now to the remaining 2 games v Na Piarsaigh on Sat 10/Aug & Crecora on Sat 17/Aug.
Overall it looks like 4 teams fighting for 3 remaining places in the semis which means every single game remaining is vital
for each team to progress which means a very exciting climax to the 1st phase of the championship.
We wish Dean Kennedy a speedy return from hand injury sustained during the game.
Team: Ger Butler, Keith Quinn, Sam Mullins, Darren Kenihan(Eoin Quigley), Craig Carew, Jack Molyneaux(C),
Dean Kennedy(Mickey Quinlan), Ian McNamara(0-1), Matthew Graham(0-2)(Eoin Daly), Martin Fitzharris(0-1),
Kyrin McGarry, Killian Hannan(0-4)(Tony McCarthy), John Moloney(0-4), Macauley Murtagh(1-2), Emmett Harty(1-4).
Greg O’Connor, Evan Brommell, Craig Brommell, Gearoid Leo.

Update: U12 Hurling Blitz in Gaelic Grounds:

Our u12 season continued last Saturday 20/Jul with the Munster blitz day.
We were grouped up with Ballyea from Clare, Ballina from Tipp and Kilkee also from Clare.
We narrowly lost out to a very strong Ballyea team in a very strongly contested game.
We were well beaten by Ballina and ended up defeating Kilkee in our final game. With several
players away on holidays we were severely depleted but those we had played with grit and
determination to the very last whistle. We are very proud of all those who competed.
Our squad even consisted of one guest player for this non-competitive event.
Squad in full was Jack McNally,Fionn McDonald, Conor Marnell, Ciaran Maher, Conor O’Sullivan,
Jimmy Reilly, Cian Portley, Jamie O’Rourke, Daragh Kiely, Dylan Collins
& guest player Sean Holland. Thanks to all those involved & parents for supporting us.
There is a few weeks break now from training. Back second week of August.
Pictured above with the players are Mike Marnell (left) and Morgan O’Sullivan who the club wholeheartedly
thank for the excellent job being done with this fine group of young men.
