Club Notes 14 June

INTERMEDIATE HURLING
We had a good day out on Tuesday night 31st May in Croagh when we came home winners on a scoreline of Claughaun/Old Christians 1-12 Newcastle West 0-12. Well done to all the players and management on such a great display. It’s a great boost to the confidence. They will be out against Hospital Herbertstown in the coming weeks which is yet to be confirmed.

U14 FOOTBALL
Our U-14 footballers faced Newcastle West at our own pitch for the 5th round of the championship and fell short on the back of a very exciting display of football. Well done to the lads on a very spirited performance when we were missing a lot of our team due to holidays, exams and injury. The game was very enjoyable to watch and there has been a vast improvement. We will face Monaleen away on Tuesday 21st June at 7:30

U14 HURLING
Southside Gaels will have the opportunity of having a couple of challenge games and plenty training sessions before taking to the field against Monaleen in early July. We have recorded only one loss in this competition and will be aiming for no more defeats. There is great heart and character in this team which was again witnessed in Rhebogue last week against Murroe Boher. We came away outright winners with 3 goals 12 points on the board to the oppositions 8 points. The next few weeks training will play a huge part in determining the outcome for the season so keep it going lads and well done.

U8-U10-U12
There is a great buzz around the club especially when you see lots of young lads and girls participating in training, matches and blitzes. Well done to all the coaches and parents that make it possible week in, week out. Without the help of everyone pulling together it would not be possible, thanks to all involved on behalf of the club.

RIP
Our respects are shown for a pure gent of a man, Patrick (Paddy) Noone of Lynwood Park and late of Inverin Co. Galway who recently passed away. Sincere condolences to the Noone Family for their loss. Paddy was the father of David and Shane who have a lifelong connection with Claughaun as players, members and friends. Rest in Peace Paddy.
